This magnificent Heritage House commands a prime site on Cape Wanbrow, with panoramic views overlooking the Harbour, Ocean and Town and is centred within close/walking distance to downtown Oamaru and the Penguin Colony. Built and occupied in 1915-20 as a gentleman's residence and family home, it is a superb example of the Australasian Federation period of architecture from the era about 1888-1918; with a blend of styles from the English Queen Anne, Art Nouveau, the American Shingle and the English Arts & Craft Movement. Some features on the ground floor include high, pressed tin ceilings, wood panelling (wainscot) and use of native and imported timbers in an aura of spaciousness.

This extra large character home has been diligently refurbished by the owner to provide modern Homestay facilities, ensuring privacy with en suite bathrooms and quality King/Twin beds, TV, microwave, jug, tea/coffee, table and chairs. Guests receive Southern Hospitality and experience an historic era of magnificent building. We endeavour to cater for individuals requirements. Breakfast offers both continental and cooked with the house speciality a garden fresh vegetable omelette. Dinner is by prior arrangement. The spacious Federation Lounge & Bar with Sunroom has a choice of several dining tables, or they can be formed to provide a banquet/convention situation with seating for 20-40 people. An in-house entertainment system is available. There is off-street parking with disability access and toilet/shower/bathroom.

The house layout is ideal for group bookings like large families, company functions, seminars, elite sports teams, etc, where the whole house is available to rent and a package deal can be arranged to suit requirements with self-catering or chef available. There are five bedrooms in the house and a five bunk self-contained tourist cabin available for short-term rent by negotiation.

The sunny, peaceful, homely atmosphere and environs are conducive to artists, musicians and writers for creative work when considering staying for a longer period.
